I never liked having to Futz with hidden power, I meant like the removal of things like Signal beam and the lack of move coverage in general for moves that could be used by some mons like Weather ball, or Flash Cannon which is literally just taking light in your body and storing it to release in a burst... which most Reptile mons and Plant mons could do in theory anyways.

Because the way Dynamax works, if every Pokemon could learn every move type then it would lead to stupid combinations. Even if they made it so Hidden Power was always Max Strike, it was still gimmicky and basically just promoted hacking. Do you know how annoying it is to have to hack Hidden Power Ice onto legendaries for VGC?

In theory, without everything and their dog learning Hidden Power you can have good mons with shit coverage and shit mons with good coverage balancing each other out. In practice it never works that way.
The real question is why Pursuit got the boot.

I mean I could say it makes things a bit more interesting, but I honestly couldn't say that since some pokemon still have fairly good coverage whereas others have been shat upon.

I suppose that makes sense and that makes me hate D-max considering how stupid it is already and hard to balance around unless you are playing muh dubblez. but more to the point there were a few good moves and some weaker coverage moves that got nuked like Signal beam, return, and pursuit.

They managed it with Z moves.
And besides, GF has shown on many occasions that they don't care about hacking as long as the mon you hacked in could've theoretically been gotten legitimately.
