Masuda said that about the Battle Frontier in ORAS, and then literally a year later we get Sun/Moon. And, no matter if you think it's good or bad, the game objectively has the longest time between starting and getting your first Pokemon of any game, but even besides that it has some of the longest battles in the franchise for various reasons. Like, if you're worried about players turning the game off because it's hard, why not worry about players turning it off because it's slow?
Why not add a fast forward feature for battles, or not have separate dialogue boxes that completely break any immersive flow, or do less of "tell, don't show"? The game already supplies how effective your moves are and gives you visual data for stats/status. This franchise can not ever get over the fact it started on the Gameboy, it's ridiculous
