Bug is pretty based, but I think the Flying type is the best.

In my opinion the only weak Flying lines are the Madibuzz, Unfeazent lines, and Swoobat and Oricorio.

Normal is such an underrated type, if you ignore the rodents there are some really good designs. I wish there were more like the porygon line though because I love how colourful that line is.

The entire series is inspiried by bug catching so it makes sense why bugs have the best designs.
I bet that's the only thing Taijiri does these days. Makes all the bug designs for Pokemon go through his approval before they are implemented in a generation.

Bug is the best because Bugs themselves are basically bio-mechs. Robots are always the coolest shit, so it would stand to reason that biologically evolved mechs would be just as kickass.

Things like bug and ghost have an advantage in that they're pretty hard to stray off the path from since they have some ground rules.
Dragon was also like this for a while but gamefreak treats it more like an element now instead of a creature type.

Gen 7 sure, there was only Alolan forms and Incineroar, but 8 is carried pretty well by Grimmsnarl, Urshifu Single strike form, and Galarian Moltres.
