Hate it now that it's become an excuse to have a drastically shorter main game. This, and catch experience piss me right off, pokemon platinum's 8th gym leader is around the same level as SwSh's 8th gym leader but in SwSh you gain anywhere from 3.5 times as much exp to 6 times as much exp depending on how many of your pokemon you use in a battle with a team of 6. Not to mention you get this much exp from simply catching a pokemon too. I haven't counted but I wouldn't be surprised if there were one 3rd as many battles in gen 8 than gen 4 and no one fucking calls them out on this bullshit. Hell, there's less average pokemon per trainer too. Remember in gen 1 when after mid game most trainers had 2-5 pokemon? Gen 1 had a lot of problems but goddamn to I miss the amount of pokemon each trainer would often have
