Serious question, exactly WHY have so many features been removed throughout the franchise's history?

It's kind of mindblowing that regardless of what your favourite pokemon game is, there's likely a feature or fun little aspect present in another game that's just inexplicably missing. Some of pic related were stuff that I personally never cared for, but it's still absurd to me that stuff like auto-run, ball capsules, rematches, frontier aren't just standard at this point
