I wasn’t going to buy it until I saw there were following Pokémon back. Very disappointed when I learned it’s restricted to IoA and the majority of walk speeds seem to be fucked. I can accept these games aren’t made for me anymore and are just low quality in general, but there are a handful of little things like following Pokémon that let me turn my brain off and enjoy it.

IMO, GameFreak could get away with all these scummy business practices a lot more easily if they just quit removing previous games’ features.

No, gamefreak removes features so people miss them later and then they will use the same features again to sell future products.
Just look at how they were planning to put walking/running animations in Sun and Moon but changed their minds so they use them as selling point for LGPE
