How so? Rillaboom doesn’t really fit Ash’s style of speedy Pokémon. Even if he does have some outliers, it doesn’t really go far enough away from his strength

Kind of would have preferred a powerhouse beast pokemon honestly. When they're ALL speedy types it's a bit boring. Plus, I don't think he's ever had a musclebound pokemon like Rillaboom, they've all been lithe or fat, slow guys.

the main reason Ash doesnt fully evolve things is because the audience/staff likes cutemons that fight. Rowlet was a fluffy ball owl, and Oshawott was a bobblehead otter thing.

with that said, I wouldve liked Ash to have Dewott

The page literally says "SATOSHI'S COMPANION POKEMONS" and then near the Sobble picture it says Satoshi will be meeting Sobble. It doesn't even mention Gou even though Gou is mentioned in the old synopsis of the episode.

Out of all of those, Torterra was the only one presented as lacking in speed and maneuverability, something Ash was never able to effectively overcome considering it never won once after fully evolving
