It doesn't. Waiting 30 seconds for the battle to start due to lag and the null frames in between each text box freeze frame fade to black animation bloat gametime immensely. In fact, that's the only reason the main campaign even manages to scratch 30. No matter what you're doing you're constantly waiting for the game to register your next a input. Resulting in mindless button mashing while you continue to go through the E4 12 more times to get enough money for all the clothes because that's the only fucking thing to do after the glorified bossrush that is this game's postgame episode.
Maybe if the plot was alright this would be forgivable but it's fucking not. The single best part of the game was Opal and Bede's interaction but of course that goes nowhere because the game's cut plot leaves any sense of lore and wonder with immense disappointment.

Also the concept of "repetitive content" doesn't work as no one held older games to this standard before. You never said the gen 4 battle frontier was less content because Emerald had it. You never said the Safari zone isn't content because it's been it was gen 1. The battle tower has been in the game since gen 2. How come these aren't held to the same standard?

It didn't used to be this bad, that's what people are trying to get across. We had contests, battle facilities, minigame facilities, etc to occupy time. Shit like shiny hunting was wasn't a factor because that wasn't one of the 3 things you have to do in the end.

But we do this all the time with battle faculties, safari zones and contests. However the game is clearly different as it has different QoL improvements and different pokemon.

But it's not just shiny hunting. It's training your pokemon, catching pokemon and customizing them. This has always been the pokemon endgame and gen 8 improved it along with shiny hunting.

You just don't want to admit that your favorite games were just as repetitive. Using your own logic, gen 4 has no reason to exist as it copied 80% of its "content" from gen 3

We've had this shit since gen 3 anon, the point isn't "every gen before was entirely unique with infinite content" it's that it had what SwSh provides, and far more. Making shiny hunting, breeding, and IV/EV training easier doesn't change the fact that it's the extend of what there is to do.
No fucking shit these games are repetitive, every fucking game is, the difference is people aren't out there hailing playing gacha for several hundred hours as being "worthwhile content".
