The proof were cross-evolutions, which intended to be all competitive, but even so they failed in most and there's some which were terrible since their own debut.

Also, even if many of them aren’t OU they’re still an objective improvement over their base forms and are at least usable in higher tiers unlike the majority of SFMA of gen 3

power creep anon, remember gen 4 came out a long time ago.

it doesn't help that lots of them got the short end of good abilities, but idk. There's VGC if you consider that too, I use togekiss online and it fucks.

Gen 5 was power creep gen.
Everything before gen 5 is generally weak unless it was given evos or coverage in gen 6+
