Overall pretty fun. Really like how the DLC paved the path for Terrain teams to be a thing.
Inevitably the meta will trend back towards balance once Magearna and Zam and Singleshifu become ((((uncompetitive)))) but whatever

Water/Fighting is not as good as Dark/Fighting. Too many things resist his combo and some are immune to one of it's stabs meanwhile SS-Urshifu hits the entire OU for neutral on just 3 moves also Rocky helmet is being spammed everywhere to take advantage of all the contact physical mons like Scizor, A-Wak and Urshifus so 3 hits equal half of your hp gone.

Singleshifu breaks more walls.
Rapidshifu can break sash, disguise, and sub, but it also struggles to deal with shit like Amoonguss and Toxapex.
Also, Rocky Helmet. Rapidshifu literally loses 7/8 of its HP if a Rocky Helmet Ferrothorn switches in on a Surging Strikes.

Rapid Strike by itself is a pretty good Pokémon, the problem aside from everything else already said is that it has to compete particularly hard with its counterpart because of Species Clause. If Single Strike is ever banned I expect Rapid Strike to surge in usage as an almost drop-in replacement.

What the hell makes Hydreigon only good for SS OU when its fucking A+ rank on natdex where it has far more competition? it doesn't make use of Z-Moves and it doesn't have a mega so neither of those matter.

Drey can't abuse Z-Moves unlike in NatDex, also the new influx of stuff and the unstable meta are not good to it make things harder to it plus we actually got fairies which don't drop to a 2+Flash Cannon and if they don't die then drey dies next.

Doesn't Natdex have Tapu Koko, Grenina and Galar Darmanitan among other shit? I think Hydreigon is good because there's lots of slow shit that it blows up, all the good defensive cores are killed by it and there's lacking offensive counterplay to it. That said Natdex is pretty underdeveloped, maybe it's better there than viability rankings suggest.

And Kartana, Garchomp, Latios, Latias, Tornadus, Mega Metagross. It's speedtier is a million times better in natdex and it will fall off in viability with the Tundra dlc.

Pokemon metas are a complex clusterfuck spiderweb where tugging one string vibrates all the strings around you and somehow makes another string two feet way go from RU to OU and another lose 5% usage.

Just because NatDex has a higher power level than gen 8 OU does not mean that Hydriegon should be equally or more viable in it than it is in NatDex. That's a very simplistic way of looking at things.
With the way the meta is at this moment in time stuff that handles Hydriegon just so happens to be at the top of the meta for reasons not necessarily related to dealing with Hydriegon which makes Hydriegon less useful.

Mandibuzz is the only "great" dark type but has the shittiest design ever. Sometimes it hurts to be a dark bro.

Yeah that'd be a good example.
Everything in the meta affects everything else.
My favorite example of this is Mega Metagross getting banned in Gen 7 ironically made Tapu Lele less viable. People could now use SpDef Celesteela instead of Physdef and AV Magearna took off as a way to deal with it.

Yeah, it learned a whole bunch of random moves because apparently its movepool wasn't good enough already. Baton Pass, Stored Power, Draining Kiss, Trick, Encore, Imprison, Eerie Impulse, Endure and all the "Swap" moves that aren't Heart Swap off the top of my head. Only thing it did lose is Heart Swap itself. Well and technically Signal Beam.

It doesn’t get Heart Swap anymore so Confide is the new option for neutralizing Calm Minders. Frankly I had no idea what Eerie Impulse did 5 minutes ago, if they have any stronger reason than mine maybe they picked Confide instead for the extra PP?

Rapid Strike imo is pretty underrated and is just as viable as Single Strike.

Single Strike may be the better Choice Bander, but Metronome (thanks to Unseen Fist bypassing protect) and Scarf are viable on Urshifu and better in its Rapid Strike form.

Not each individual hit, just the selection of the move.
Urshifu just so happens to have Unseen Fist to bypass protect.
Also if you do use Metronome, use Crunch or Liquidation/Waterfall since they have far more PP than Wicked Blow and Surge Strikes respectfully.

and scizor and a few others, but gaining body press allows it to run sub sets that check a large amount of others steels and even set up a sweep. Hard checking Corv and Skarm is still a valuable niche, enough so that corv is plummeting in usage as we speak
