There were also little puzzles in the first game where you'd have to lead pokemon to certain spots or hit them with an item to trigger other things to happen. But how could you not understand the appeal of taking pictures of pokemon out in the wild?

it's definitely the worst time. Traditionally, the only big issue this franchise had was the anime, now its the anime AND the games going against the fanbase.

If you still think the good outweighs the bad, that's valid but it's definitely the worst time.

The original Snap had the most worldbuilding for a Pokemon game outside the OS anime. Even if all you did was drive around you were fully exploring the Pokemon world uninhibited by walled boundaries.
It was far more open world than the retarded Wild Area.
