Unova was about having Pokemon similar to older Pokemon, but slightly different. It was before (or maybe the beginning of) the pandering to KANTO so at the time it was just kind of interesting.

It’s was CLEARLY Dunsparce evolution and they ditched it like they did with Drampa.

It's also actually legit. I used one in a White 2 run and it was damn good at taking physical hits and Wish passing. Not efficient, but fun.

Yea but why didn't they just make Alomomola available only and Luvdisc available afterwards? They could make Luvdisc available only by breeding an Alomomola using an incense like they've been doing the previous two generations.
The "no previous gens" rule was kinda dumb anyway, it wouldn't have hurt to include a handful of lines from the previous 4 gens to link the regions more
