IIRC it had something to do with the Trainer Club or whatever that shit was, it was way too annoying and most people were never gonna bother. The point is, making the number high doesn't really prove anything, it just makes it that much more difficult for people to complete the task. It's not like they're trying to impress anyone, it's just a way of giving shit away that also gives players something to do. In that regard a million is plenty.
