Was there anything in Gold and Silver not improved upon in HeartGold/SoulSilver? All I can think of is you can't catch Teddiursa, Phanpy, or Sneasel early, but that was Pokémon Crystal.

I'm impressed you managed to avoid all that then.
Personally my top 3 locations in Johto alone would be Union Cave, Olivine City and Ilex Forest but I think forests and caves just get forgotten about. At least Olivine has the lighthouse to keep people mentioning it though.

The contests were a little screwy. I swore I once caught a shiny Scyther back in Gold, entered that, and only got third place.
