In the beginning of the game you have options to have a Nuzlocke mode, Abilities, Natures, and a few other things as well to customize how you play the game!
In terms of the actual game, think of it as a HGSS demake. You can play as Gold or Kris, Lyra is a 2nd rival, some new areas are added in the game, etc. You can even find characters from other games here, such as Skyla. There even is an ingame wondertrader!
Pokemon wise there are 253. It adds in some evolutions from later gens while at the cost at removing some mons (Stantler, Hoppip, and Spearow as well as a few others). There are even Alolan Forms and Magikarp Jump forms in the game as well!
Its overall a very solid package. There are a bunch of other nice tidbits that I have not mentioned here, such as a better level curve. I believe they are working on adding the removed mons back as of right now. I highly recommend the game, as it breathes a nice QoL to it!
