/vp/ is always saying Hyper Offense is the most skillfull and difficult to use archetype, but then why does everyone spam HO whenever there's a suspect or ladder tournament?
Doesn't make much sense to me.

anyone who tells you HO is low skill is a complete retard, you can only get away with being a shitter when you're below 1100
it's the most prediction-reliant archetype and you need to be constantly aggressive and double often
also people usually use balance for suspects since it's the most consistent

Absolutely not.
Whenever a suspect is happening HO ends up being so stupidly common that suicide leada like Shuckle, Azelf, and Smeargle will rise to OU for the month just to drop back down when it's over.
This has happened several times since Gen 6 so it's not a coincidence.

Don't know why you'd even say this when the teams of every person who qualifies to vote isn't easily accessible public knowledge.
For HO memeshit to affect the usage stats anyways they'd need to be at the upper end of the ladder anyways.

The only time HO is "risky" is in the HO vs HO matchup.
Pretty much every other matchup is the same Excadrill -> Grimmsnarl -> Setup flowchart.

Not really. HO has more of a reputation for being braindead.
I'd say it's actually neither. It's not some high-skill archetype that requires a galaxy brain to pull off, but you do need to at least be intelligent enough to make predictions, assess risks, and maintain momentum.

Because it’s faster and there is a large luck component to Pokemon, the nature of that+the limited run time of suspect tests encourages faster strategies that allow for abandoning RNG screwed accounts with less investment.

Stall is actually a lot faster than people give it credit for.
They see the turn count and think stall matches are slow, but it's flowcharty so you typically already know what you're doing and aren't spending much time choosing a move.
Also, you get a lot of early forfeits because people just don't want to deal with your shit. Especially during a suspect test when they're trying to win as many matches as possible. It's faster to take the L there and make up for it with a couple of extra W's.

HO is basically too heavily prediction dependant. Slower matches punish the player for not making the right decisions in the long term, more agressively offensive-paced matches can be decided with only one misplay, turning them more into something like gambling like poker/rock,paper,scissors instead of chess-like/strategy.
