It's big for the investors, and from a business perspective, but for a fan of pokemon there isn't anything special about this that wasn't special about masters. Literally anything but a grindy, soulless mobile game would've been accepted by most.
The whole fact they made it seem like it was bigger than the snap remake by giving it a separate presentation, and on top of that building anticipation for a whole week, was a recipe for disappointment if *this* is what they had in store. The fanbase may have gone rampant theorizing about mainline games but you can't blame them for being hyped when they literally were set up to be. If they really didn't see this coming, that's a fault of TPC's.
