Even if Iris has more shared weaknesses it's hard to abuse them (unless you play on Shift Mode and if you do then you don't deserve to talk about challenge).The only good Ice type that would do good against Iris would be Mamoswine and Weavile which are both accessible only after the 8th gym.
But Cynthia's Platinum team also has half her team weak to Ice and there are way more good Ice types in Sinnoh than in Unova.
Plus Spiritomb cannot do really good damage so it's easy to set up on it and it's her lead so it's way easier to sweep her.Iris leads with a Hydreigon which is a pseudo and can deal good amount of damage.
So Iris is not trash ez but it's to really say who is the easiest between her(Normal Mode) and Cynthia(DP and Plat) but Iris Challenge Mode is the strongest champion in all of the games(especially in the rematch).
