The OP used "dislike" not hate, and yeah I know the whole reason behind it was an excuse just to avoid pokemon, but it is still presented as "disliking" pokemon in the beginning.

The talk was about "losses", not battling only. The tie is what started the whole one upping the other between Ash and Paul and Pokeringer had Paul trying to show that his flying type was better.
