What's your favorite top 3 out of the 8 gens?

I know gen 8 is outdated, post-DLC top 3 probably has Magearna and Urshifu.

In retrospect, probably Gen 4, but that's mostly because all 3 of them are fairly versatile:
>Heatran has 10 different suggested sets
>Jirachi has 8 different suggested sets
>Tyranitar has 5 different suggested sets
I don't think other Pokémon arrive at the amount of versatility DPP has, and the DPP Top Mons didn't even need to be that dominant to achieve that: They're no GSC Snorlax.

Tyranitar has 55.2% and Jirachi has 44.9% percent so they're both above Gen 7 Lando levels.
Heatran has only 28.2% but Latias is above it with 35.9%.

Yeah honestly nowadays Latias is probably top 3 even if it took some time for it to become really good. Heatran has fallen off a bit especially in tournament.

I think gen 7 OU is pretty fun in general but I wouldn't exactly call Magearna and Toxapex very "fun" Pokemon.

Blowing shit up with Z moves and shift gearing is very fun.
Doing stupid shit like staying in on an Excadrill Earthquake to burn it and pivoting into Koko Volt Switches is also fun.

Great movepools obligatory for gen 1 Normal types. Essentially no type weakness since the few Fighting moves sucked ass. Great offensively since Steel didn't exist yet, Rock didn't have Tyranitar yet (though Rhydon and Golem were relevant) and the only ghost was Gengar. Chance to spread paralysis with Body Slam which also makes Normal important defensively since it's the only type immune to Body Slam paralysis (excluding Ghost obviously).

Clefable was a jack of all trades, master of all in gen 6 and could fit in almost every playstyle besides HO. The Fairy typing made Clefable's vast movepool incredible and unaware clef was amazing in stall
Gliscor is more or less a defensive backbone and gave MegaMetagross 4MSS

Clefable should be obvious if you've played Gen 8 at all.
Lots of utility options, can become a wincon with calm mind, immune to hazards and status. Also gen 6 was pre-thunderwave nerf so Clefable could easily cripple it's answers in the early game then sweep late game with calm mind.
Gliscor is one of the few speedy walls in the game and has ridiculously sustainability with toxic heal. Also has a psuedo immunity to status because of it. It's also got good stallbreaking tools like knock off, taunt, swords dance.

Clefable got Wish+Teleport in gen 8. Add the reduced dex and lack of Z-moves and it's able to pass wishes to everything and basically keep the whole team healthy

Power creep pushed it down in gen 7. Power creep was reversed a bit in gen 8, and Clefable also got a massive buff with Teleport.

It's true.
Megas shoehorn you into using a small handful of mons.
Dynamax can be used by any mon and adds extra tactical depth to the game because your opponent doesn't know who you'll Dynamax or when.
