It helps keep otherwise OP Pokemon such as Volcarona and Dragonite in check, and can easily be removed with Rapid Spin, Defog, Heavy-Duty Boots, ect
Anyone who complains about SR are just a bunch of seething Charizardfags that are mad their shitty Gen 1 atarter with shitty Gen 1 stats and a shitty Gen 1 typing that GF will never change is even more shit with SR

Stealth Rock changes: No longer does type-based damage
It still hits Flying-Types, but no longer does more damage to them.
Stealth Rocks deals the equivalent damage to two layers of Spikes. Stealth Rocks and Spikes can be stacked

In fact I'm pretty sure the total sum of such a change would lead to several mons getting outright banned, especially in the current meta. Volc not needing to run HDB would be gigantic for it

It's obviously not the only reason, but it's a pretty big reason why they're not as good as they could be

Volcarona would admittedly be pretty busted without Stealth Rocks, but I think it's more important to remove Stealth Rocks for more Pokemon to become better (maybe not all necessarily OU, but much better than they currently are). Keeping a move around just to check one Pokemon is pretty wasteful, and too harshly punishes less OP Pokemon
What Volcarona needs is a nerf. Maybe to it's stats, or the removal of Quiver Dance from it's movepool. idk

Completely misses the point.
Stealthrock is supposed to do more damage to flying types because they are not affected by spikes, toxic spikes, and sticky web.
The only acceptable change would be capping the max damage at 25%.

Fire maybe, but it still shouldn't have to bear with the Flying-Type sins.
Bug is a complete joke of a type, the only relevant Bug is a suicide hazards setter which doesn't even tend to carry Bug moves at all and the only relevant Bug move is used because of it's secondary effect.

Bug is a really poor offensive and defensive typing, it has the most resistances in the game tied with Grass, the only thing it has going for it is that U-turn is such a good move and it doesn't have to worry about any immunities, unlike Volt Switch and technically Flip Turn. But those are way better offensive types sooo

And saying that Stealth Rock being SE against Bug is to balance U-turn doesn't make much sense, because most mons that make good use of U-turn aren't even Bug-type.

Unironically this, stealth rocks are not broken, switching pokemon is broken. Games would last a lot more without them. Their only bad trait is treating unfairly rock weaknesses. Heavyduty boots fix that, but i’d prefer if the rocks still did neutral damage to everything instead.

It really isn’t. Hazard control is more widespread than ever. Moltres found a niche in fucking stall teams in gen 7.

Talonflame, Volcarona, and the Mega Charizards managed to be OU despite the 4x pebbles weakness, and Moltres was UU with an OU niche. Ho-oh has never dropped from Uber.
Most rock weak mons just aren't good and would continue to not be good if SR was nerfed.

The idea to punish switches in singles is pretty good and necessary, but I hate the idea that it punish severely certain types, yeah now is ok but stealth rock was an awful and bad designed mechanic for most generations, it should have only crippled flying types.
