I've seen a lot of unironic Hoenn praising on this board recently and it has me perplexed. RS are the worst mainline games ever made (and the 3rd generation pokemon aren't much better) This has to be an issue of zoomers in there early 20s who played 3rd generation when they were 6 right?

That would base Diamond and Pearl. Swsh if you take into account it's the year 2020 not 2002.

That's my favorite dex personally, lots of good designs like the starters, sableye, mawile, milotic, flygon, aggron, breloom, the regi trio, Deoxys, etc and even things like cacturne, claydol, crawdaunt, Roselia, etc I find decent and like quite a bit, very get Pokemon I'd say are entirely misses. Keep in mind I got Ruby when I was 14 and started off with Blue. People have differing opinions than you, not every person who likes a gen likes it because they started with it, although that could be the case for some of them.
