It looks alright in isolation, but there's a reason why don't keep their backs turned in other media; having your back turned to your opponent doesn't work in actual fight.

I think Gmax blastoise is the only time in pokemon where when I saw the art I hated the design, but when I saw the 3D model I loved it.

Same. I actually really like gmax Blastoise. I love the fortress idea, out of the 3 probably my most preferred Kanto starter gmax, with Charizard in second. Venusaur once again got the shaft unfortunately

You missed the second part where it says the stomach is its weak point. There is literally no practical reason for Turtonator to face forward. Its stomach is fragile while its back is both armor and its primary weapon all in one.
