>>44061995It's probably because he doesn't have a major battle against the player in the maingame of BW and you only battle he participates in is with N, and by the time you see it he's already beaten. Not only that, but he has very little involvement in B2W2 and in both games he can't be challenged until the postgame.
However, I do think Alder has some of the best characterization of all the Champions and stands out uniquely from the rest. He has a strong team, but that doesn't necessarily play as a piece to define his character like Cynthia or Steven. He's a wanderer, a guy who focuses on helping and training others. However he is viewed as a coward in some fashion from the pov of those like Ghetsis, who see him as one who runs from his responsibilities and role as Champion. He also has a bit of additional background involving his first partner which died of a disease, and how that possibly/probably impacted him to go down the path he did.
