>>44062598>What the fuck are watts?Containable forms of raw, residual energy left behind by Eternatus; the same variety of which is harvested in bulk by Macro Cosmos to power the energy-intensive installations that Rose has personally funded.
>Why do they come out of dens?Dens are microcraters presumably left behind by the light impact of a Wishing Star, which has eroded over time and exposure to saturate the immediate vicinity with unending supplies of Dyna energy and Dynamax Crystals, which wild Pokemon are drawn to and can utilize to D/G-max as a defensive measure. Seeing as Watts are faint increments of harnessed, workable energy, even borrowing their name from the SI unit responsible for measuring the amount of work-power produced from a generating source, it's reasonable that they would be connected in this way.
>Why are they currency?!Intangible power holds high priority within a society with the means to freely utilize and exchange it for goods and services, seeing as Eternatus and its remnants are functionally perpetual energy generators, which can be found dotted in vast vicinity relative to the mainland, fossil, nuclear, hydro and all other varieties of fuel are entirely functionally worthless. You can "sell" some Watts to a hiker who might need to charge his flashlight or cell phone, or even just to top off his charging brick, and in exchange, he'll leverage his skill with digging or identifying valuable geological resources as a return. It's incomprehensible to us because nothing like this obviously exists in the real world, nor will it ever be to such a degree that literal children could go out, scoop up some energy and then go deposit it into their house to keep the lights on for the next three days while their parents were busy elsewhere, as a simple chore. Galar is a literal miracle of a society, and the fact that it all depends on the enslavement of a sentient extraterrestrial gives me a grim hint for our own future as a species.
