That would be good too. Honestly, I feel like Wallace was the worst gym leader they could have chosen for it. I understand that he's the final gym leader but despite Hoenn being 99% water, there weren't enough good water types to go around between him, Juan, and Archie.
One of the frontier brains would have been a great option for Emerald. Then they could invite you to the battle frontier after defeating them.
