Why are people this dumb? You could never tell a hacked Pokémon from a real one if it’s legal. I don’t have a problem getting a hacked if it’s legal since no one will know. What’s the deal?

It actually is possible. A hacked mon can have a legal ability and moveset, but be in an illegal Pokeball and still get past the hack check. So if the hacker is sloppy, you can tell.
In fact, you can even win a tournament with a provably hacked Pokemon and nobody will care.

Not that anon but I remember that Aegislash. I'm assuming that they either don't care as well, or that they can't 'prove' it's hacked because it could have been bred legitimately in an illegitimate ball. Kind of the same argument made for the unsuspecting kiddo that gets into a hacked raid. Can't prove if they intentionally did it or did it by accident.

Except bottle caps specify if the Pokemon had it used on them by having it say "Hyper Trained" instead of "Best".

About the guy in the pic, I think it's more so about people not wanting hacked Pokemon from wondertrade or gts. Nobody gets a legit shiny 6IV Pokemon and sends it out to a random kid, and the kids don't understand the difference, probably thinking they're legit, thus classifying them as "sentimental" for whatever the fuck reason.
