Platinum isn’t much better. I’ve been doing a quarantine ‘play all the main games in the order of their release’ thing, and I just moved from Platinum to Black. And I actually thought there was something wrong with the settings in Black, as though I had accidentally picked warp speed. But no, If you spend 80 hours playing Platinum and get used to its pace, and then jump into Black, it takes a bit to get used to.

I think Platinum is the only scam rehash that tried to fix problems the original had as well.

It's emulating an actual adventure. The immersion is good. Plus that's only two routes, the swamp one being optional.

Wrong, because Platinum isn't bad son. And your argument makes no sense. If I'm buying a scam rehash then I should buy the one that's an upgrade, not a sidegrade. Platinum fixed as much as it could. D/P are held back by speed and needed more pokemon diversity only. Nothing wrong with Sinnoh itself. The Sinnoh games are fine and my main point is gen 4 is not the worst generation. I'm not getting roped into some gen war so you could decide what deserves that title yourself, but 4 is far from it.

I’m a genwunner and I don’t have ADHD. It was perfectly fine the first time I played through it, but going back after a decade, it’s so slow compared to other games.
I don’t want to wait literally 20 seconds each time I save.
Of course slowness isn’t the only problem, but I don’t mind those other problems. But this slowness is just ridiculous. If 15%+ of my time playing DP is just due to the game being slow, that’s pretty bad.

But you’re both probably sinnohfetuses who can’t stand having their babby game “insulted”

Gen 1-3 out dated but still enjoyable going back
Gen 5 - not full 3d but enjoyable
Gen 6-8 enjoyable
Gen 4 - DP enjoyable but painfully slow unless you have too much time on your hands

I've been playing since Silver and actually did buy Platinum before DP as a teen (mainly because back then I was focused on other things and didn't realize we had even gotten a new gen until Pt dropped). It was such a dumpster fire of a game, such an awful piece of shit, I was so excited to try it and yet I couldn't believe that this was it, this was the new game/gen. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't get back into Pokemon until XY. I did try to play it again some years ago, to give it another chance now in my twenties, and jesus christ. The engine, gameplay, Pokemon, characters, the region, it was all as bad as I remembered it. Why the fuck do people claim to like this shit, I'll always see Sinnoh as the trash that it actually is.

Correct. The difficulty in pokemon games lie on a spectrum, from "Comfy but engaging" to "Braindead and mindnumbing".

The "harder" games can be easily made into a satisfying challenge with just a few self-imposed restrictions like playing on set and not using healing items. The easier ones however, are impossible to make satisfying without imposing an absolutely absurd amount of arbitrary restrictions that make it harder to feel invested in the game.
