I don’t think any game comes close to the amazing experience that was alola TBFH.>Gen 1: no story, ugly graphics, dated. >Gen 2: better post game than main game, awful story, awful dex. >Gen 3: ugly Pokémon, too much water, dumb plot with dumb villains, the legendaries suck and make no sense, the remakes of Kanto are still boring. >Gen 4: slow as fuck, no new Pokémon at all, tons of event legendaries exclusive to japan, the story literally stars an incel and his group. Johto remakes are trash too >Gen 5: Kanto pandering, boring rivals, N is just an emo edge lord with a bland personality, again bad story, worst dex ever. >Gen 6: more Kanto pandering, no story, megas are dumb, awful graphics, too easy. ORAS are awful too, a copy paste of the original gen3 games but even worse. >Gen 7: hardest game in the franchise, amazing story worthy of game of the year, best dex in all gens, best characters in Pokémon, actually changes the formula and doesn’t repeat the MUH gym badges, good Kanto pandering with battles with Green and Red and regional forms, best graphics of any Pokémon game. >Gen 8: meh overall, includes GO mechanics likes raids (Yikes), awful Pokémon, ugly characters, ugly region, no story, easy af

But I don't see the issue here when most of the Unovan Pokemon's themes and design philosophies are completely different from their Kanto "counterparts". Also you can't really complain about design trends such as early-route bugs, bird Pokemon not named the first 3-stage line, and a Dragon-pseudo when almost every gen has them anyway.
You can only compare an electric zebra and a fire unicorn on a base equine level and this goes for basically every Pokemon on that image except the tapirs, the healers, and perhaps the jellyfish if you want to ignore any possible references to Japanese yokai. Parallels don't equate to ripoffs, especially when they are so radically different from each other. I have zero clue why parallels bothers people so much.

Because they look like knock off and honestly the design makes them look like fakemons. Compare it to the chad regional forms that actually changes the original Pokémon and made same in game.
