I dislike all three base stages. Frogadier and Greninja are cool though.

Overall best Pokémon of these 27 are Rowlet, Quilladin and Thwackey.

>Rowlett is a "buy my merch" design that has ascended to the the upper echelon of shilling and for good reason. It's reminiscent of Kirby in its simple perfection.
>Dartrix and Decidueye get too much hate, both are solid designs in spite of the the latter's feather fingers
>Fennekin line might be aimed at coomers but there is some visually interesting stuff going on with Braixen's broom tail. I get what they were going for with the ear fur but it's immensely distracting to me and takes away from all three designs. Delphox is actually alright.
>Litten is literally perfect, what the fuck did they do to my boy? Delphox right above shows a much better example of blending "clothing" with fur. Incineroar is a dude in a ripped t-shirt. Fucking hell that thing is lucky the Smash team made it look so much better.
>Froakie line's only standout is Greninja but at least it's a pretty strong standout. It's an actual success for a Pokémon to be enhanced by its visual gag rather than ruined for the sake of memorability
>Hate how Popplio's muzzle is drawn, hate Brionne, Primarina is alright
>Gen 8 has the worst starters. Scorbunny is at least pretty inoffensive all throughout even if its final form has some seriously no-brainer fixes to its anatomy that could've been done. Sobble and Grookey are pretty disastrous with Rillaboom barely salvaging the latter line. Sobble line is the worst starter line ever and I'm glad I didn't like a single one of its stages.

To be fair, having defined joints and muscles is different enough. It's sort of the difference between a character's mouth being modeled and being a texture. That also having been said it's mostly on model still. The model sheet in and of itself doesn't have the muscle definition, but stylistic differences and all that. It's a fine design in the right style, it's a shame GF kinda botches this. Then again they're also the ones who did entirely different art for Blue version and basically none of the changes stuck, but it's the first exposure people in the west got to the designs so now people have dumb expectations. Like, Red/Green and Blue artwork for Nidoking is very different, look it up.
