>>44072545This. Gen 5 was like Brawl for Smash Bros but it turned out to be more of a wash really. Some things were really bad, other things were good enough.

+Audio in its entirety. OST was beautiful. Music changing mid battle when you were at critical health. Gyms having their own themes.
+Dream World abilities
+Meta was still somewhat competitive and not about instant win buttons
+Weather was relevant

Bad
-Its story was trash and overhyped by spergs who never played any other video games in their life.
-5th gen started the linear circle regions. Cheren and Bianca ensured you would never be able to explore outside of the predicated line towards your objectives.
-BW also had poor postgame. Before BW2 it was just battle subway.Black City and White Forest were garbage.
-Technology wise its gen 4 with a new coat of paint. Visuals didnt get much better for the most part or got worse (jagged sprites)
-Base BW were so bad they needed sequels to fix its problems
As good as some of the pros were the cons really outweighed the pros to me being more significant in concern to quality than quantity. There was a chance to redeem things here but XY kinda cemented in my opinion that there were some things that Gamefreak didnt want to change and some things continued to degenerate.
