>>44075830>>44076812>Which gen has the best selection? What is the ideal size?I usually don't care about old Pokemon in new regions so my judgement is based on new Pokemon available.
Hoenn > Kanto > Sinnoh > Alola > Johto > Unova > Kalos
>Kanto It is pretty good. While not having big type variety, there is always something I can pick (like Caterpie, Nidoran, Pikachu or future Fly user). FRLG have the weakest selection considering removed Nidorans. RB have the best selection. Didn't play LGPE.
>JohtoDespite being my favourite region, Johto has relatively weak selection. Aside from starters, you don't have much to choose from. Teddiursa, Phanpy and Dunsparce are hard to find. Ledyba and Unown are horrible in-game. HGSS make selection better by introducing Primo's eggs and giving you access to Route 32's grass. It's a real struggle to pick something new after repeated playthroughs.
>HoennIt is great, no doubt about it. I'm not a fan of many Pokemon in Hoenn but the quantity makes up for it while not being overabundant.
>SinnohTolerable selection. Only 5 Pokemon to pick aside from starters but they are all usable (maybe aside from Kricketot) and I don't dislike any of them.
>UnovaBW are great games but this selection is pathetic, especially considering they are the only games you can't trade eggs in before first badge. Using Purrloin is asking for trouble so you are left with two normal types and pseudo starters in form of monkeys. Type diversity is really bad here. BW2 is slightly better. I'm thankful for Sewaddle but don't care much about Pidove.
>KalosThis one takes a shitty cake. If you pick Fennekin and don't want a repeated type you can choose a total of two Pokemon. If you don't pick Fennekin, the selection is poor anyway since every fucking Pokemon has a repeated type. Pyroar shares it with Diggersby and Talonflame. Talonflame shares types it Vivillon and Pyroar. It's horrible.
>AlolaWay too many repeated types and Kanto-reskins but it's okay.
