>>44081955Gen 2 was a good sequel but it's overrated and the biggest offender of nostalgia glasses (yes, even more than Gen 1 because Gen 1 is actually great besides Kanto being an outdated region and thus boring compared to the newer standards), the post game accessibility to Kanto is one of the biggest memes in the series (there isn't anything to do, it's literally just collect more badges with no plot involved) and most of the Johto dex, while having some of the most memorable pokémon ever, is extremely forgettable to the point that a lot of Gen 2 pokémon are mistaken for Gen 1 or Gen 3 and it didn't help that a lot of the big hitters weren't available to the player until later (Larvitar being the worst offender).
Gen 3 on the other hand was the PEAK of Pokémon as a whole
>one of the biggest overhaul in terms of graphics and soundtrack>amazing region with gorgeously designed cities and fun exploration all over>very consistent dex with some of the most iconic and loved pokémon to date>one of the few gens to date where the dex is completable without transferring from older games>added abilities, natures, and double battles>also added berries, contests, and secret bases, so you had shit to do that *wasn't* battling>Emerald added the Battle Frontier>FireRed and LeafGreen come out and are faithful remakes with even more content thrown in>two Gamecube RPGs, Mystery Dungeon, Pinball R&S
