I skipped gen 2 back in the day and went from Red to Sapphire.
No Regerts here.
Played HG a few years back and fuck me was it garbage, my most used item was max repel and not a single interesting character in the whole game

I'm conflicted, this could be a thread to talk crystal, but at the same time I feel it should rot for the sheer number of homosexual posters
For example, I'm pretty bummed that Gligar doesn't learn Earthquake or Fly, but I find it awesome that around the time you get Surf (in a city representative of the whole region) you can catch a mon around Whirl Islands, Olivine, Mount Mortar or Lake of Rage, and smoothly train it to 30 before the big rocket fight and the last gym.
It's simply a great game, and you should be able to enjoy it if you beat it like a toddler and lament it wasn't skill testing for your smogon tier knowledge

True, i've recently replayed it and i was only slightly underlevelled before red and the E4 (which i don't really mind honestly) plus the 'wild pokémon being weak' is a relatively dumb argument, as i remember certain places having low level evolved mons that would give lots of experience

It didn't.
It's hard to say anything in the game was "gutted", when it's the generation with the largest amount of new features compared to the previous ones. It redefined how a Pokemon game should look and play like. If you've never played it at the time it was released, you won't understand how massive of an upgrade it was from Gen 1.

Literally every Pokemon game since Johto is just a downgrade of Johto, so who is stuck in the past?
Once Pokemon actually massively overhauls its franchise with a similar amount of non-fluff features and Johto becomes outdated, then you can talk about it being "old".

Even worse. It's the first Galar. Remember when the prototype notes dropped? All the playtesters complained about shit like the level curve (like in the rocket hideout) and GF deflected with non-answers.

Brand loyalty paypigs and Joe-tier excuses started with gen 2.

It was in Gen 2 where over designed pokemon like Tyranitar and Blissey entered the fray. Gen 2 started to ruin fan favorites like Scyther and Onix with new uglier evolutions, Steelix and Scizor are quite abominable and only serve to introduce the Steel type onto already popular pokemon.

It was in Gen 2 where useless pokemon really took the lime light. Cleffa and Igglybuff serve next to no purpose other than being dex filler. Among them singular stage pokemon were rampant and considered quite weak, Girafarig, Corsola Dunsparce are remembered as among some of the weakest mons.

Gen 2 also boasts having introduced Unown, and even the pokemon that holds the lowest BST of all, Sunkern.

Gen 2's dex issues don't stop there. It was in Gen 2 where the true oversaturation of legendaries began. Generation 1 had 151 pokemon, of those only 5 were true legendaries. In generation 2 of Pokemon we received 100 new pokemon but 6 new legendaries, far skewing the the number of legends to none.

Let's not even get into the actual pacing of the game or mechanics. The "freedom" to visit gyms out of order really made the leveling skewed. Along with the dex filler late game in kanto where they were just throwing not fully evolved pokemon at you.

Gen 2 was inarguably the worst Pokemon generation.

Do you count pseudos as legendaries as well to get those numbers, you didnt have to, the ratio is the same even if you use the real numbers.

I disagree with it. There is not any point where the game gives you difficulty because of the level curve. You can beat Red just fine with lv 50s at the end of the game.
People that complain about the level curve are just bad at the game.

Of course you didn't post Silver/e4, if you managed to be level 51 at Lance, then there was a big difference of levels between you and them...
And your Tangrowth is level 51, which show you that grinded a fuckton because you can only catch at it level 23 before the last gym.

Stop denying that Johto is a fucking mess already, HGSS is especially a letwdown after how balanced Platinum was

Complaining about difficulty in any Pokemon game is petty as fuck.
By design, these games are always easy as fuck. The combat system is ridiculously simplistic compared to other "three/four niggas in a row" games. Most of them can be steamrolled with one or two Pokemon. Dismissing everything Johto did because of "underleveling" is absolutely retarded.
