my main pet peeve is that serebii is run by serebii joe.
So I have two wishes:

The only thing Joe has on other sites like Bulbapedia is some really niche information for every game. For example, the other week I was looking up information for the gen 5 trainer card and he has a page specifically for that, although the layout is so hideous it's hard to see. If you had a website WITH that esoteric information but I could actually see what's going on, I'd visit it every time.

I actually don’t mind serebii. No ads and every page loads fine. I used to live somewhere with bad internet and I’ve never had problems with it not loading.

I hope you are serious about this OP because if so, then good luck.
Anyway, here are some stuff you could do
+ nice modern UI that isn't cluttered nor feels empty
+ sections for games, anime, manga, etc.. in organized matters
+ trivia section below each pokemon
+ a page for sprites and artworks
+ a page for news but don't stack games, spin offs, anime, and VGC news all together like serebii. that news page hurt the eyes
+ you can make your site works like wikias where names and items are hyperlinks so if you click on them the site directs you towards that name/item own page

Better piping. There are so many useless links that I would never click on in a million years unless the game had not been released yet. That or broader categories, for instance on Sword and Shield, put a link to unavailable Pokemon somewhere in the gen 8 dex page rather than creating 4 or 5 headers on the right side of the page for the game itself.

There was a time the alternative to Serebii was Psypokes. I liked the later, but I have all respect to Serebii because the layout didn't followed the new trends all this time. Some horrendous stuff showed up lately, with new paradigms and such.
