>>44098446>Literally every season is the sameThe formula is the same, but the meat and potatoes is different. For example, DP had a strong focus on developing Ash and Dawn's rivals, training Pokemon, and developing strategies over time.
>Her crush took literally 10 seconds out of a 23 minute episode. The problem isn't that episodes are dedicated to her crush - there are only a few of those. The problem is that it's brought up a lot and makes up a significant portion of Serena's contribution to the group. I liked the idea of her having a crush and how it motivated her to leave home, but in the end it became her big, defining characteristic.
>That's more development than may and dawn ever gotMay went from a girl not too interested in Pokemon, being argumentative and not understanding Contests at all, to a more mature (but still sometimes goofy) character who cared about her Pokemon and performed well in Contests.
Dawn was more confident, but had a losing streak that severely effected her confidence for nearly 20 episodes. She also ended up making an effort to escape her mother's shadow.
I'm not saying any of these are game-changing or special, but they're, at worst, on par with Serena.
>Contests were just fancy battles, tripokalon were a huge improvement from thatSerena's thing was just her dancing in a circle with her Pokemon, who would sometimes do moves. They were less creative than the displays of Contest Appeals. And honestly, the fancy battles were cool. I liked them better than the... random acts like baking or Rhyhorn racing TriPokalon added.
>>44098446Nah, a lot of people here, and on the Pokemon
have been complaining about this. But even if this wasn't true, I don't care if a lot of people like it. I don't, it was my problem with the show and it clearly made for more shallow interactions.
