It was the fulfillment of the Oak fight we never got in Red/Blue/Green. Ever since I learned about that unused fight years ago I wanted to be able to battle the Professor, and Kukui finally delivered on that. When that Pokémon main theme blared as he challenged you, it was such an excellent feeling.

Changing it from him to Hau in USUM was the stupidest thing. Way less interesting.

clarification: I think he's pretty cool as a character, I just don't think he's a good *professor*. I prefer professors to be properly dressed and more intelligent/professional. Between him and Burnet, I think I would've liked Burnet as professor more.
