Why the fuck does Blastoise have torrent as an ability?

It would make more sense for him to have shell armor

Post pokemon and change their ability to make them more viable

Plus they have a theme. All of the gen 1 starts have abilities that relate to the weather.

Of course it has Torrent. Every water-type starter has Torrent, and almost always their special hidden ability makes them at least a little more viable.

In the case of Blastoise it is Rain Dish. Which isn't...that great, but it makes it slightly tankier on rain teams, so it's something,

Bad example for you to start on, but I'll bite.
If you really want to make any Pokémon busted give them Wonder Guard. Don't even have to have no or few weaknesses. Just being protected from anything that isn't indirect damage or supereffective moves would make any 'mon other than Shedinja overpowered.

every water starter is forced to have torrent as their standard non-hidden ability, just like every grass starter is forced to have overgrow, and ever fire starter is forced to have blaze, and no non-starter pokemon can have these

I wish there was a way you could easily change Pokémon's abilities in-game (as in, during the main story). Especially for hidden abilities. Maybe you get something midway through the game that you're ideally meant to use on your starter, than allows it to swap between all possible abilities it has. You can get more after the game ends, but otherwise it allows you to play with Pokémon abilities that otherwise couldn't be used in the main story.

Then again, this would fuck over all events that focus on a Pokémon's HA. But people just inject anyways so it's just a matter of them waiting until it's officially released, therefore legal, and then using it.

Hidden Abilities should just be scrapped and added to the main ability pool. Now Pokémon get 2-3 Abilities (not counting special event Abilities like the Own Tempo Rockruff or Battle Bond Greninja).

For a high crit move like most slashing attacks, that's strictly worse than simply buffing their crit rate by one stage (1 in 8 crit rate -> 1 in 2 crit rate), making it a weaker and more limited Super Luck.

Erupting Anger: Every time this Pokémon is attacked, it has a chance to "erupt" and deal damage. This won't happen until gf creates something like a Trait which is inherent to all individuals of that species.
This would be most relevant for mons with levitate but could also apply to certain mons with intimidate, pick up, &c.

Terrain Pulse with a Grassy/electric terrain setter is really good. If they decided to bring Megas back Blastoise would pretty much have perfect coverage depending on the terrain.
