What happened to his gen 5 psychic types? Are they not important to him? Does everyone in game and out only have one people they give a damn about and the rest are just slot fillers?

No one cared about Gen 5’s messages, character development, pokemon, or Game Freak’s opinions because they threw a big enough tantrum about not being allowed to use their “bros” until post-game.
This is why Game Freak is now representing the average pokemon-obsessed (wo)manchild; only their favorite matters, anything else is just filler they won’t mind discarding into the wild once they “fulfilled” their “purpose”.
