If they were filler, they wouldn't have their own anime series. Checkmate, atheist.

Filler is something like LGPE that didn't get its own anime and instead got shoehorned into Sun & Moon's.

the anime for gens 7 and 8 are absolute garbage which further confirms them as filler. Gen 6 matured Ash a bit and was the best pokemon anime in a longass time. It even gave a sense of tension during the Zygarde arc.

But then gen 7 sent Ash back to kindergarten or some shit and removed all tension and maturity. Not to mention that disgusting art style

It's easier than that: the post-DP anime is just filler desperately trying to hold continuity together using bubblegum and duct tape.
But if we are discussing the games, I'd say gen 5 was the last good gen.
