Gen 4 was also the start of the nostalgia trend when countless Pokemon from past gens got evolutions or branched evolutions. Gen 6 is when this shit really exploded, as the games are no longer even hiding the fact that they are just there to sell merch, with so many goddamn forms and Mega Evolutions.
