i dunno. what’s the difference between a good partner pokemon, and your favourite? I imagine size is one thing to consider. they should be small enough (or light enough) for you to carry. And if they’re going to be out and about, walking with you and all that, they probably shouldn’t be a fishmon. Mammals are likely the easiest to bond with, as they draw parallels to the creatures we get on with in real life. I wouldn’t want a bug pokemon to sleep at the foot of my bed. They’re cute in sugimori’s art style, but they’d probably just be big chitin-clad, hairy, insects. I guess I’d go with my favorite, since he fits into the above-mentioned specifications. Umbreon is a weird fox, cat, rabbit, dog.
