>>44133105Given the way USUM's plot stumbles about I don't think her evil in USUM was intentional I think that was a carryover from SM's plot. If the plot went as how I think it probably was supposed to go you could have three possible outcomes, it's made clear from the start that the main conflict is between the URS and Necrozma, the former appearing as the saviours from a distant planet come to help the Alolan people.
The climax should therefore have three possible options;
1) It's confirmed that the URS are indeed benevolent and Necrozma is a force not to be trifled with and has to be stopped (this is what USUM's plot basically was)
2) It's revealed that the URS are still abusing the power of Necrozma like their ancestors in the past and that Necrozma is effectively a very powerful caged animal
3) Lusamine and the Aether Foundation pull a Starscream and try to take control of Necrozma for their own selfish reasons
My issue with USUM's plot is that there are elements to the main plot that actually could permit the latter two to occur when they should've been more so red herrings or not present at all, the easiest way to mend this would be to simply to have reworked the plot more so that the conflict between the UBs and the URS+Aether Foundation was more present and something we got to experience more, like having UBs show up throughout the main plot to be fought with Necrozma's influence in stealing the light of Alola be shown throughout the game. You would also need to flesh out the URS more and make the Aether Foundation generally more benevolent, you can still keep Lusamine's controlling side of her character though, it's just that it would more so be a flaw to her being a genuinely good (morally) character rather than the core of why she is an evil character.
