They'll gleefully cheer on Gamefreak cutting every aspect of the solo game as long as they get some token new QoL change that makes building a comp team slightly easier, and the games will constantly go downhill.
The only way we're ever getting a decent single player Pokemon experience again is if it doesn't have multiplayer altogether. Just take down Showdown and release it as an official title. They'll happily pay $60 + online for the same functionality. Boggles the mind they haven't done so already.
