I was today years old when I learned that nintendo doesn't own the pokemon franchise.

Apparently it's splitted between game freak, creatures and the pokemon company.

For the longest time I thought this was a situation where nintendo was the parent company of the 3 others, but no.

Apparently the 3 companies merely decide to cooperate with nintendo
