Why’d they stop buffing old Pokémons’ stats in Gen 8?

I love how Gen 6 and 7 decided to buff some older Pokémon’s stats: it usually didn’t “fix” them, but it did help make them more usable online, and in general it’s nice when a Pokémon you like is made better. Why, then, didn’t they buff any older Pokémon in Gen 8? Instead, they nerfed Aegislash. I don’t think there were even any old Pokémon that got new abilities. It’s just disappointing to me, kind of a missed opportunity.

Weezing got Neutralizing Gas, my guy. Plus, they buffed a shit-ton of Pokemon through movepool coverage handouts.

Nidoking and Nidoqueen got a buff to attack and it made me furious because they needed a buff to speed and GF isn't buffing them again

Instead of minor stat buffs, they gave new moves instead.

There's also not as much need to buff stats when no game is ever going to have all the Pokemon again.

Aegislash was broken in singles, so they nerf it.
Yes, GF actually care about single battles, but it is easier to balance for doubles, singles are still a stall fest.

I forgot about Weezing, to be honest. As for the move buffs. Those often were helpful, but many Pokémon that could have used help there (Lilligant, Flareon) still didn’t get it, and a number of Gen 8 original Pokémon ironically had pretty bad movesets. Also, they brought back mediocre Pokémon like Cherrim and Lanturn yet still didn’t buff their stats. I understand that they can’t make every Pokémon perfect first or even second try, but I feel the stat buffs were low key one of Gen 6’s best additions.

I don’t necessarily mind that they nerfed Aegislash, but it feels weird that after buffing so many other Pokémon previously, the only stat change this gen was a nerf.

Btw , did gen 7 actually buff stats? I think Alakazam but that was more of problem with its mega, so they fix it.

Oh yeah, plenty: some notable ones including giving Masquerain a good Sp. Att and decent Speed, Farfetch’d got its Attack boosted way up, and Dugtrio also getting a notably better Attack stat. No Gen 6 Pokémon though, which sucks since some Kalos Mons could use it: Trevenant, for example.

A lot of them were duds but it's made quite a few mons more viable- usually when combined with some other buffs. Even the ones that don't make much of a mark in competative got so much better ingame like my nigga Pinhead.

That would actually be Farfetch’d: fuckin’ thing got a whole +25 to one stat (yet they still had to give it a new form with an evolution one generation later). There’s also, as stated, Masquerain, which got +20 to TWO stats.

Maybe this is me being simple minded, but unless a Pokémon has an easy way to make itself fast or something (like an Ability), ANY slow Pokémon should be at least somewhat Bulky. The fact that Game Freak has been making Slow a d frail Pokémon as far back as Gen 1 and refuse to stop is one of the things I hate most about this franchise.

It isn't THAT frail, especially when taking in harvest, seeds, and wisp into account. It could really benefit from a gen 6-7 style HP boost.
