I started a White 2 muzlocke (my first ever) yesterday. Off to a good start until Gym 1. Team of Tepig, Pidove (dead in training), Psyduck, Purloin. All 3 remaining team members got killed by Cheren. Nuzlocke is over now.

Three gyms in now. I have a team of six so I can't catch anyone new unless someone dies. Currently my death count is as 0.
I'm doing something new where instead of describing my Pokemon's personalities I give them little doodles based on their nature and personality traits. I feel like my team has a lot of character compared to my older early teams.

I'd say go for Platinum since you can get Kricketot, Burmy, Wurmple, Combee and Heracross by the 2nd gym. You also get Scyther fairly early and Yanma at the Great Marsh.

So the Team sheet thing broke and i couldn't post any updates for a couple days but what i can say since last time is Pryce is bad at Pokemon. Big Bong used Mamoswine as set up fodder and proceed to fuck the rest of his team up the ass with Gyro Ball. Socket is in for PeckMyAss which i hope helps the team balance but i can't evolve her into a juicy electivire until after i get past this radio tower shit, if she survives that long.

Crasher Wake taken out, Wumpus downed his Gyarados and left his Floatzel with a paralysis before switching out to Alilat, who took care of the rest. Alaska also evolved after the battle, excited to see what she can do on her own
Other than that nothing much happened between the two badges, anxious about our first encounter with Cyrus and the fated bridge battle with Barry, hopefully we can get through both unscathed

I remember how fun it was being able to use the formes when Platinum was new and you could redownload the key at a whim, good times

It's pretty ezpz if you're running on emulator, not so much if you're running on actual console
You're doing quite fine tho, I'm pretty sure your Rotom is stronger than mine due to the Modest nature (mine being Impish), so the only thing I've got going is a little extra bulk and Air Slash (which admittedly comes in handy a lot)

Quick update of progress I made before bed last night. I made the trek from Mauville to Fallarbor, which always feels like a fairly lengthy and grindy stretch to make between towns. Found a few cool catches along the way and I plan on doing a little bit of grinding on Route 113 to get a couple of them up to speed.

Decided to start my first attempt at a nuzlocke yesterday in Blue version, it did not go well. Lost the tutorial battle against the rival thanks to crits and tackle missing a lot. I’m not sure if this is usually “allowed” in a nuzlocke cause I’ve never done one but from then I hightailed it and ran from every encounter until I could get a pokeball and went to the route to the left of Viridian where I threw it at the first thing I saw and luckily caught a level 3 female Nidoran. Since the starter didn’t receive any use after fainting (it didn’t even get hit by anything cause all the running was successful) I think I can still continue the game. Caught a Caterpie in Viridian Forest and spent WAY too long fighting metapods to get them leveled up a bit. Honestly it would have been way less tedious to just start over but I dunno I want to try to struggle my way through and see how far I can get.

By the way, since I’ve never done one of these before and I didn’t see anything about it in the FAQ, what’s the policy on gift Pokémon? Are you allowed to use those?

Typically, yes. Most people just take them or count them as the encounter for that area (i.e. Eevee counts as the encounter for Celadon City, Lapras counts as the encounter for Silph Co.)

Ok cool, thanks for the info. One more question on the subject. If you happen to have a Pokémon that an NPC wants for an in game trade, are you allowed to do that so long as you haven’t had your first encounter in that area?

That's a very gray area, since it doesn't come up very often. I would say go for it if you have the pokemon the NPC is looking for and don't worry about it counting toward the encounter for that area. It is far more dependent on you having encountered and caught to pokemon they want.

It had a Careful nature so I didn't want to bother, besides I had already used Empoleon twice at that point so that made the decision easier
