Why does /vp/ like the physical special split? Don't you guys like mixed attackers and quirky, but viable movesets?

Fire Punch should be physical, because it involves the Pokemon punching someone

It certainly helped a lot of Pokemon, but some Pokemon were hurt by it too.
Running mixed now is more of a surprise then ever, at least.

You can still do this with PSS

Anyone that disagrees with the split is unironically brain dead. There were Pokemon more suited for physical attacks then special. You'd have to be incredibly dumb to think otherwise.

The split is fine

It's the current nature/limited EV stat system that stifles creativity and forces almost everything into a purely physical or special role

Lets. It means that pokemon that currently get shafted by walls can just splash a move from the other side of the spectrum without having to divert evs from one of the two important stats.

I wish there was some kind of middle-ground.
The gen 2 EV system is boring because you'll always know what spread a mon has.
The current one fucks over mixed mons because they need to split EV's and end up being less efficient than if they'd just invested into one stat, and mons that have specialized base stats end up being better than them anyway.
