Generation 5 was considered the generation that brought the most love for the Bug type.Is this still the case, or has it changed for you since then?

Yes but it also means it has no usage. It isn't wanted in OU and can't be used in UU. It's objectively worse because it's stuck between tiers.

That's the problem here dude. In theory yeah, Scolipede outperforms M-Beedrill in a vacuum, problem is there's no where you can use both. The only format Scolipede is legal in its trash and unused. If Scolipede was just a LITTLE bit worse than it is now, just enough to make it into UU? It would unironically be better.

Gen 7 doesn't come anywhere near Gen 5. Just Vikavolt, Araquanid and Golisopod. Buzzwole and Ribombee are meh, Pheramosa is just waifushit. Also fuck roaches.
I wouldn't trade anything for gen 5's lineup. Leavanny, Scolipede, Escavelier, Galvantula, Accelgor, Volcarona, all great designs. Crustle and Genesect are super fun too.

Shoutout to gen 4 which only introduced 1 good bug but gave some key changes that let bugs be viable.
