>>44176100Pokemon in general isn't one of those series like Sonic or Kirby where the music is consistently 10/10. In fact I would say Gen 2 is the only genuinely standout OST in the (mainline) series. The next two in line are pretty good but not insanely so, Gen 1 has cute songs that are memorable and catchy but only 1 or 2 that I would say are true standouts. Gen 4 has great atmosphere and direction in dppt that's unique, though I think the day sound engine holds it back. Hgss is much tougher but the original tracks like route 46 are grand.
Gen 5 and 3 are decent enough, and the rest are just forgettable with one or two standouts. Gen 8's OST though is just rough and painful to listen to.
